Two International Premieres in May on Digital Stage: Dance from Japan and Theatre from South Korea
The Radu Stanca National Theatre Sibiu (TNRS) and the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS) continue to bring to audiences in Romania and around the world international artistic productions that have enjoyed success within the Sibiu International Theatre Festival.
In May, Digital Stage—the online platform for theatre, film, music, circus, and dance of TNRS and FITS—will present two premieres:
1. Dance Performance Accumulations
Produced by YUKIO SUZUKI projects / NPO KAIBUNSHA, Japan
Accumulations tells the story of time, of movement, and of relationships that blossom over time. It is the story of an ordinary day—a day from everyday life, a day in this world, a moment that leads toward the future. On the road I walk every day, I notice a budding flower. The sky feels higher and I sense the warmth of the air. I admire the beauty of the sunset. I do not need to be someone. Each sensation reminds me that I was alive on that day, in that moment. The things that happen in the world are not far from us. I have decided to live here. — Yukio Suzuki
Inside the containers on large ships that cross the seas to China, the United States, and many other countries, there is an intermediary known as the Helper. His duty is to transport refugees and smugglers and to ensure that they reach their destination safely. In reality, he is their executioner. Other intermediaries exploit his desire to survive and manipulate him, fueling his hatred of the world. They speak to him about wars, lock him inside a container, and order him to kill.
Yet the helpers do not want to kill refugees and smugglers.
