The Digital Stage, the online platform for theatre, film, music, circus and dance of the “Radu Stanca” National Theatre Sibiu (TNRS) and the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS), brings audiences three premiere performances in October, created by Romanian and international artists and presented as part of FITS 2025.
“The Digital Stage continues to be the space where art transcends borders and reaches audiences from all over the world.
The three premieres this month — from Switzerland, Portugal and Romania — show how diverse and universal theatre is and reaffirm our mission to bring the joy of creation to audiences from every corner of the world.”
– Constantin Chiriac, General Director of TNRS and President of FITS.
October premieres on the Digital Stage:
1. “Coup Fatal” (Switzerland)
Comédie de Genève
Directed by: Fabrizio Cassol, Alain Platel & Rodriguez Vangama
A spectacular musical performance in which an orchestra of 13 musicians from Kinshasa, conducted by Rodriguez Vangama, reinterprets the baroque repertoire in a contemporary style.
The Congolese countertenor Serge Kakudji selects the arias, and the result is an energetic fusion of baroque, traditional and popular Congolese music, rock, and jazz — with an impressive visual and sonic force.
During FITS 2025, Alain Platel received a star on the Walk of Fame.
2. “Winter”
“Radu Stanca” National Theatre Sibiu
Directed by: Hunor Horvath
Text: Jon Fosse
In an unnamed city, two strangers meet by chance: a businessman trapped in a mechanical existence and a woman lost within herself.
Their seemingly banal encounter triggers a profound existential crisis.
Hunor Horvath’s direction explores the tension between the sacred and the profane, transforming the story into a meditation on closeness, truth, and love as revelation.
3. “In the Name of Fado” (Portugal)
Fado ao Centro feat. Nuno Sérgio
A journey into the soul of Portugal through the unmistakable voice of Nuno Sérgio, who conveys with intensity the emotion of saudade — the longing that defines Fado.
The show celebrates the tradition and authenticity of this musical form, recognized as intangible cultural heritage, transforming it into a vibrant experience for the audience.
