Stories and HIStories extracts fragments from the creative process and construction of the performance “Iona”, directed by Silviu Purcărete. The film attempts to capture the fusion between Japanese culture, faith, and spirit—brought by the personality of actor Kuranosuke Sasaki (who plays the central character in Marin Sorescu’s text)—and the values of a Romanian space that the director has explored throughout his 50 years of theatrical creation. It is a short story about sensitivity, education, regional and transcontinental values, and, most importantly, about friendship.
